The Perfect Storm
Blending several different shots in Gloucester, MA made me think and put together a composite representing the fishermen who went out almost all the way to Newfoundland and finally found the great catch they were looking for, only to be themselves 'caught' in the convergence of 2, possibly 3 storm systems which combined were simply too much for the small-ish boat. Notice the placement of the statue of the Virgin Mary on the mast of the boat, and the houses either sinking or rising out of the water - that being your perspective to decide which....well what is it communicating? My sense of it is that their lives were sinking - their families, their homes sinking until they could come to terms with what had happened and discover a way to get on with their lives!
